Miller Industries, the parent company of Miller & Jo, was founded by Herbert Miller in 1945 and began by spinning and weaving warm, woolen apparel cloth including luxurious camel hair cloth for coats. For a time, the company was also known for its decorator drapery fabrics, but this market changed with the growing popularity of mini-blinds and the move away from "soft" window treatments. Today the company manufactures fine cotton, wool and chenille blankets at the Worumbo Mill on the banks of the beautiful Androscoggin River in Lisbon Falls, Maine. The mill, named for an early Native American settlement, is really two historic mills, one built in the 19th Century and a second built in the 20th Century. The mill is also home to our company store. While many of the blankets we make are sold in the finest stores, the blankets you see here are only available at true outlet prices from our website and at our company store.
